About the event
Honey bees are vital pollinators for fruits, vegetables, and forage crops, but getting started can feel overwhelming. This hands-on workshop removes the guesswork. Participants will learn essential bee biology, equipment selection, apiary setup, seasonal management, and practical strategies for keeping colonies healthy and productive in Piedmont Virginia’s climate. You’ll leave with a step-by-step first-year plan, a realistic budget, and the confidence to open and work a hive safely.
